Many bible scholars are familiar with the story of Joseph and his arrival into Egypt destined to become a slave. Now sold to his master Potiphar, Joseph always remembered who he was versus who he was sold to be. Overcoming the obstacles of seduction and imprisonment, God had a plan for his life. Years later, as his brothers now sought help from this unsuspecting ruler, they came face to face with the compassion that forgiveness offers.

Extending forgiveness may not be easy, but what forgiveness offers is the ability to free yourself from a place of bondage, liberating you into a place of freedom. Overcomers forgive, not because it’s easy, but because it’s necessary. Overcomers free their oppressors from the indictments of their past so that they can pursue their purpose with passion, confidence, and dignity.
